One foot flew up in the air and I landed on my side, head, shoulder, elbow, HIPS, knee all at the same time. It was a total cartoon-like perfect fall. Last week the silicone from the handle of a hairbursh (I know, totally random), leaked out onto the hardwood floor and it has been slick as ice ever since. We had kept a dining room chair there because everyone in the family has slipped walking over it, but this morning while dragging my sleepy eyes to the coffee pot I hit it in mid stride and WHAM! I was on the floor. It didn't hurt at first, mostly my good shoulder and elbow...it hurts now.
I felt great while swimming this morning, 2,000 meters today with no shoulder pain at all. As soon as I got out of the pool to walk to the locker room I was limping. What's weird is it hurts on the opposite side. The side i fell on hurts, but more like a bruise, but on my right is that familiar old ache in the groin. My left pops...scared, scared, scared.
The ups and downs are killing me. I wish I could get used to this. I'm so heartbroken and frustrated. I just want to get this surgery over with so I can put this behind me.
Today I'm preparing an appeal to send to United Healthcare, thankfully with the help of my wonderful surgeon, Dr. Colin Looney, to ask them to pay for a second reading of my mri's. It's costing me $200 per side, but he has sent it to an expert at reading images on hips and my luck they aren't in network. This hip crap is costing us a fortune and don't forget I had a baby this year too. Getting ahead has never been so tough. My heart really goes out to those without decent, or any health insurance. One day life is great and the next day you slip on silicone from a hairbrush turned doggy chew toy:(
