Tomorrow's the day!

I couldn't sleep last night. Not because I'm afraid of the surgery. In fact, I'm ready, totally at peace about it and looking forward to the recovery process. Family and friends have lined up to help, pray and give general support (in the form of pre-op margaritas). But, I still couldn't sleep last night. Tossing and turning over little things like grocery shopping, driving, items in closets difficult to reach, insurance, etc.

But tomorrow morning it won't really matter much because the wheels will be turning and I guess we'll just take life as it comes. I will do my best to commit to memory as much of the experience as possible in order to share with those of you wondering what it is like.

I'm expecting about 2 hours of surgery with 2 hours of recovery time at the hospital. Dr. Byrd will meet with me before and then after he will speak with my family to explain what was done. During the surgery, my husband will walk over to the PT office and pick up the game ready machine. Our insurance didn't cover that (or many other things) unfortunately, so it's a $250 charge for 2 week rental. It's worth it though, I don't care to fill ice packs non-stop. There's no way our ice maker could keep up anyway. This little machine is very small.

I had my CT scan yesterday. The tech who was a pretty funny guy with a dry sense of humor threatened me to be still or any movement I made could cause Dr. Byrd to take off too much bone. So, then I nearly hyperventilated trying to not even breathe hard which must have tipped him off (like that I was turning blue possibly) and he told me it was ok to breathe, just not move.

If I'm in any condition to, I'll post tomorrow evening:) Keep your fingers crossed!!
