hi everyone.i do hope these posts are still running? ive had constant agony in my hip,groin and lower back for 3 and a half years.i live in u.k and im under a brilliant surgeon called prof.schilders.all the premier league football players get sent to him,so thats how amazingly clever he is!!! unfortunately he cant seem to stop my pains...aaaaggggghhhhh!!! in all,hes done a hip arthroscopy,where

I wanted to take the time to thank you for this blog. I am scheduled to have my third scope done on my hip, and needless to say I am @ the end of my rope. I have had my labrum tear three times, it wasn't until recently that it was discovered I had an impingement. The pain has been awful, I can't walk, I can't sit for too long, I can not do the excercises I used to do.

There are a number of good surgeons at Children's Hospital in Boston who are experienced in FAI surgeries. Also at Newton-Wellsley and Mass General is Dr. McCarthy. He has a personal website and speaks often on hip scopes. I've heard mixed reviews about his temperament but I've never met him so I don't know.

Just here to share my story.
The pain is everywhere: Lower back (sacro iliac), groin, all around the hips, buttocks, knees, heels and mid back.

hi. i do more than one thousand arthrograms on almost every joint each year, combined with CT and MRI studies. i have developed my own techniques for each joint, and these are not painful proceedures when perfomed properly. the worst problems that patients have are related to insurance based referrals to physicians and facilities based on cost, and not patient experience or outcome of the study.

Had Arthroscopy at Cooper Bone and Joint in Voorhees, NJ. 6 weeks ago.. i am not perfect yet but i do advice that physical therapy is so important for feeling better. I got one of these on my left hip when I was 15 and I had a horrible experience. First I found out that I was allergic to morphine and then they almost had to strap me to the table because I guess I was shaking so bad from the pain because I practically had no pain medicine. I had a hip arthrogram today! What I read online really scared me and it took me 4 months to get my guts up to do it.
It was a breeze seriously!
If you have to get one don't be scared! I did take some valium for nerves which helped most for keeping me mellow while I laid in the MRI machine for 1 1/2 hours. The dye injection was all of 3 minutes. No sweat and very very minimal pain

Not everybody with FAI is a candidate for arthroscopy unfortunately. Pediatric arthroscopic surgeon at Lahey Clinic ruled it out for my daughter after exams, MRI and CT scan, due to the precise nature of the impingement. We are back at Shriner's Hospital, in the hands of an experienced pediatric hip surgeon.

I had an MRI Arthogram and it was not bad at all. There was no pain from lidocaine needle and the other one was just pressure and an odd feeling when he finally got through to the joint. On an uncomfortable scale a 2-3 and on a pain scale a 1-2.
