There are a number of good surgeons at Ch...</title><summary type='text'>Cindy, &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There are a number of good surgeons at Children&amp;#39;s Hospital in Boston who are experienced in FAI surgeries.  Also at Newton-Wellsley and Mass General is Dr. McCarthy.  He has a personal website and speaks often on hip scopes. While not painfree, the tech hit my interior nerve bundle with the first dose of lidocaine (leg jumped like a burn on inside of thigh 2/3 down), the anterior nerve bundle with the second (leg jumped like a severe shock around my knee), went for a third time and probably got it right; did not feel a thing. First I found out that I was allergic to morphine and then they almost had to strap me to the table because I guess I was shaking so bad from the pain because I practically had no pain medicine. What I read online really scared me and it took me 4 months to get my guts up to do it.&lt;br /&gt; It was a breeze seriously!&lt;br /&gt; If you have to get one don&amp;#39;t be scared! I did take some valium for nerves which helped most for keeping me mellow while I laid in the MRI machine for 1 1/2 hours. The dye injection was all of 3 minutes. Pediatric arthroscopic surgeon at Lahey Clinic ruled it out for my daughter after exams, MRI and CT scan, due to the precise nature of the impingement. There was no pain from lidocaine needle and the other one was just pressure and an odd feeling when he finally got through to the joint.
